Our Cardiac Surgery Team
Dr. Alon Aharon, Cardiac Surgeon at Stamford Hospital most recently was an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Case Western University/University Hospitals of Cleveland and a cardiac surgeon at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He received his medical degree from Tulane University's School of Medicine. Dr. Ahoran served as Chief Resident in the Departments of Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed a fellowship in Transplant and Cardiothoracic Medicine at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He is board-certified in surgery and thoracic surgery and is widely published.
Dr. Samantha Jansson, Stamford Hospital's Chief of Cardiac Anesthesiology, comes to Stamford Hospital from New York Hospital Queens, where she was Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology. Prior to that, she served as Director of the hospital's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and was also Co-Director of the Women's Heart Advantage Program. Dr. Jansson attended medical school at Michigan State University, followed by an internship and residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. She completed a fellowship in Echocardiography at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Scottie Dombrowski, RN, MSN is Stamford Hospital's Clinical Care Coordinator for Cardiac Surgery, or our "Patient Navigator." She has been a nurse at Stamford Hospital for nearly 40 years, working in a variety of departments including in the intensive care unit, cardiac catheterization lab and cardiac rehabilitation. Now her role is to make sure everything goes smoothly, pre-operatively through the recovery period and beyond, for every patient, along with their loved ones.
